Drug Addiction (2)
Uganda is not the only place where people are suffering from drug addiction. The US is also experiencing an alarming increase of drug use, especially among teens.

In many cases, drugs in the 21st century have become more
potent than they were a generation ago. Access to drugs in schools has also
gotten easier, now ubiquitous on campus grounds and at teen social events.
Several commonly abused drugs among teens are even found in
their own households and may even be prescribed to them by their doctor. In
fact, 20 percent of parents say they’ve given their teen a prescription drug
that wasn’t prescribed for them. And sometimes, a seemingly casual act like
this can carry many long-term implications.
A drug problem may be something your teen never has to go
through, but history has proven that drugs can affect anyone at anytime. In
fact, the teen drug use statistics are hard to ignore. Studies have shown that
40 percent of 12th graders, 30 percent of 10th graders and 13 percent of 8th
graders have used a drug in the past year. This adds up to millions of young
people. Even if your teen doesn’t use drugs, it’s likely they at least know
someone who does.

Drug Addiction in Uganda
Families already struggle with sending their
children to school. It is even more difficult when a child then
starts doing drugs. Whether it is to cope with pressure from studies or even
peer pressure students in the end risk their future for
momentary release. Often teenagers suffering with drug addiction do not
get to finish their education, or even get the help they need to get back on
their feet.
At risk. In the last one month, police in Kampala have
recorded more than 1,000 cases of drug-related offences, particularly involving
teenagers and youth aged between 13 and 24 years.
Many teenagers are increasingly getting addicted to
marijuana, oblivious to the danger it poses. Elizabeth Namazzi and Pascal
Kwesiga found out why some teenagers find it hard to let go of the
notorious leaf

New Library Room
We would like to thank all our donors for the support! We now have a proper study room where our library is now located. Before the children were using the dinning table and the library was combined with the sitting room. Caught two of our kids at the table when we took the photo. From her face that must be Mathematics she is working on.
