What We Do - Piggery Farm

Pursuit for Sanyu has five main income generating programs. The money that is earned through the programs is then taken back to cover the expenses and whatever is left is used for daily needs, but most of it goes for education purposes like school fees and school equipment.

Our Piggery Farm:

First of all thank you HYA baseball program for donating money to get us 2 male pigs. We have over 20 pigs in the farm at the moment and are looking to expand. Ambiyo is our main worker who takes care of them and makes sure they are healthy. We already have a purchased plot of land where we are looking to build a bigger pig farm. We are hoping to take over 40 pigs once the building is done. The first thing we have to build is a fence, which would cost roughly around $6000 including labour, material and machines, so that the pigs are safe. For building a piggery that can hold about 40 pigs plus storage for the food is about $8000. We are using local materials and local workers so that the community benefits from our projects and their uses. While doing this we are creating jobs and training staff ourselves since most don’t have the educational background that they require.
